The Computer and a New Age!
Computers are every bit a part of life now as say Television or driving your car to work. In fact, most of the jobs out in the world require a computer at one point or another. It is hard to imagine that a computerless world where everything was filed on paper in folders in a cabinet somewhere once existed just a few decades ago. Just to think that about twelve or so years ago most of the world was still like that. Unless you were a big time company or something because the darn things were way more expensive than they are today.
So many aspects of what we consider now a normal life depends on a computer. You make a call on your cell phone. That involves computers. You check out at the grocery store. That involves computers. You pump gas. Guess what, it involves a computer. Just about everything you can do during the day is affected by a computer somewhere down the line. Even something as basic as watching television involves computers. Me typing this post definately involves them. You just can’t get away from them, and would you really want to. I enjoy very much surfing the web and even writing. It makes a lot of jobs more fun to do.
I really wonder what the world will be like in the next five or ten years as far as computers are concerned. What new technological advances will come because of new processing chips come out or what new high resolution video games come out because of new ways of rendering graphics. The possibilities are endless and it is very exciting.
I remember my first computer. It ran Windows 95. Now I know a lot of you who read this say, “Well I had one that ran Windows 3.11.” I know, I jumped on the bandwagon a little late. I was 13 at the time. So that is pretty young I think. Anyways, I really thought what I had then was so incredible. I worked all summer in my dads tobacco fields to buy it. I was so excited when I got it. I remember the first game I played on it was the original Doom and later I got into playing Quake. Man, those were the good old days. I miss those times. Me and my buddies always talk about those days as if it were yesterday.
We live in an exciting time where all kinds of digital media and software are available at the push of a button and the click of a mouse. One day we might even be able to control our beloved computers with our minds. They are already working on this technology and actually have it working quite well. You just have to where some really big head gadget that looks totally retarded. One day it will be something like a hat you where or a headband. Who knows. One day I might be able to type these posts with the power of my mind.
