Installing new PC Components is something that you can learn to do quickly and effectively. There is no need to go to the store and pay them $80 or more to do a job that you can do yourself in half the amount of time that they can. The Windows operating system has advanced so far that the majority of of the time it will recognize the new components and install it before you can even react to it. If the system doesn’t find the new hardware you can still use the disc that came with the hardware to get it working. So how do you install your new computer components?
Installing your new components is very easy. The procedure is the same no matter which parts you’re installing, whether it’s RAM or a new processor chip. The single difference will be what other components you have to disconnect. If you’re doing something as simple as a graphics card then you can do the entire process in just a few minutes.

You’ll want to begin by turning off your computer and unplugging the power cord. The PC has to be off when you try to install components otherwise you might fry the PC and shock yourself very badly. After you’ve shut down the PC and unplugged the power cord you should unplug any other cords that are connected to the tower so that you can move the tower freely.

Next you’ll have to open the computer case. Most cases have 2 screws in the back that you can unscrew to pop off one side of the case. If your computer case has a lever on one side of the case then you should remove that side as it will be easier since these levers are usually quick release levers.
Once you have access to the PC you will need to ground yourself. You can do this by purchasing a wrist strap that goes around your wrist and clips to the side of the computer. This will avoid any static electricity from touching the computer hardware.
After that you should locate the component that you want to replace. If it’s a video card or any other type of slot card then you will want to look by where the Motherboard connects near the back of the computer. This will be where your graphics card, network card, and sound card are.

Finally you will have to remove the part and replace it with the new part. After you’ve done this you can screw the computer case back together.Generally; It is important that you take out the old graphics card or part that you’re replacing otherwise you might have conflicts between the hardware! This is most common when installing new RAM without removing the old ram first. If they are not of the matching speed and type they will not be compatible. Overall installing most PC Components can be completed effectively and quickly with a a small amount patience.
