Useful Tips About Hard Disk Defragmentation And Files Recovery
In the era of technology, all the information we have are stored in hard drive. Most people because of their routines forget to give extra care for this hardware and this is a serious problem. The consequence is data loss, and you surely know that your data is far more valuable than the price of the hard drive itself.
If your hard drive is failed, you can use hard drive recovery expert service to recover your data, but the specialist does not guarantee 100% your data can be recovered. Besides, hard drive recovery fee is very expensive and how much it costs depends on data recovery condition because each data recovery situation is different. Sometimes data recovery just needs software to solve the problem, but in other cases of data recovery it also requires some tool, clean rooms, and complex reparation process to make it done and this requires a large cost. Data recovery fee is ranging from $50 to $2000. Therefore, it’s better to prevent than to recover it.
Simple way to prevent hard drive failure is through defragmentation which has been provided by Windows Operating System. This software has been provided by Microsoft to fill the empty gaps with data, or in other word compress data, that can improve your hard drive performance. This is only a simple way and even hard drive experts recommend doing this first if something happen to your hard drive.
Before starting defrag your hard drive, leave at least 15% empty disk space in hard drive for it to run effectively. Below is step by step on how to defrag your hard drive:
1. Enter ‘My Computer’
2. Right click on hard drive which you want to defrag
3. Select properties
4. Select ‘Tools’ tab
5. Press ‘Defragment Now’ button
6. In Disk Defragmenter windows, press ‘defragment’ button
Through Disk Defragmenter windows, you can also choose which hard drive you want to defrag.
If you use Windows defragger, you can not use any other software or doing any activities like back up data, downloading, or playing games while defragmentation process takes place. You can use automatic defragger like Diskeeper instead to allow you to defrag and use the PC at the same time.
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is needed for emergency power to prevent your hard drive being suddenly turned off when the power is going down.
Secure your data as quickly as possible to any external media like external hard disk drive if clicking noise heard from your hard drive when the computer is turned on, loud noise heard from your hard drive after using the computer for a while, and no hard drive icon visible in My Computer. Because this is the sign of hard drive mechanical failure and any data recovery software will not help you in this case. You can find a hard drive recovery expert to help you.

The real time background defrag mode is very useful as there is no need to run manual defrags. The low free space defrag feature in Diskeeper also works well.

Diskeeper is a great solution. Its ability to keep your hard drives automatically defragmented will greatly reduce the stress on the drive from reading/writing. This will go a long way to improve the lifespan of the hard drive.
